In winter Edinburgh sparkles with over a month of festivities. Bursting to life with parades, fireworks, markets, entertainment and the biggest Hogmanay party in the world, Edinburgh's Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations draw hundreds of thousands of locals and visitors every year.
Media Accreditation is recommended for all major activities throughout Edinburgh's Christmas and Edinburgh's Hogmanay. However, Media Accreditation for Hogmanay (Monday 31 December) is ESSENTIAL. Without the correct accreditation media/ photographers/reporters will NOT be admitted into Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party, Concert in the Gardens or the Ceilidh in the Gardens on Monday 31 December 2007/ Tuesday 1 January 2008.

Accreditation is also advised for the Torchlight Procession on Saturday 29 December. The procession begins at St Giles' Cathedral on the Royal Mile and proceeds down The Mound and up Calton Hill, where the ceremony culminates with the burning of a wooden effigy, a giant bonfire and fireworks.
Download an accreditation form now. For Hogmanay, forms must be completed and returned by Friday 28 December 2007 at the latest, although earlier forms are most welcome. Edinburgh's Christmas forms must be returned at least one working day in advance of the activity to be attended.
Edinburgh's Christmas is a month long festive celebration with a range of markets, entertainment and activities for all ages. It offers a range of events from Light Night, when the citiy's Christmas lights are switched on amid a spectacular show of fireworks, entertainment and ice displays to Santa weekend, where thousands of Santa's fill the streets for a charity fun run in aid of When You Wish Upon A Star, a charity for children with terminal illness.
Edinburgh's Hogmanay is a four-day festival that runs from Saturday 29 December until the Tuesday 1 January. Accreditation is particularly recommended to ensure that you are kept fully informed and updated on all events including the Night Afore and New Year's Day events such as the One O'Clock run, Edinburgh's Dogmanay, Edinburgh Bicycle Triathlon and the Iron Kids Duathlon.
