In April 2004, the City of Edinburgh Council brought together the management of two already successful programmes, Edinburgh's Christmas and Edinburgh's Hogmanay, to create Edinburgh’s Winter Festivals (EWF) and make best use of resources.

Our
in-house team works in close partnership with other agencies,
businesses, suppliers and contractors to take our programme forward.

Funding comes largely from the City of Edinburgh Council and the City Growth Fund (a Scottish Executive initiative). Other funds come from commercial sponsorships and income from our own money-making activities.

Since 2004, Edinburgh's Winter Festivals have:

• Attracted over 1,000,000 people to Edinburgh city centre;
• Generated over 1,100 press and media articles;
• Accounted for over £77 million of economic impact to Edinburgh and the Lothians
